Late Breaking Results and Posters

Within the category of Late Breaking Results and Posters, PERVASIVE 2006 invites shorter papers contributing original and recent research findings, fundamental results, basic research contribution, and novel ideas in the area of pervasive computing technologies, systems and applications. Contributions will be peer reviewed and accepted as short papers to be published in the adjunct proceedings of PERVASIVE 2006. The adjunct proceedings will be available electronically from the conference web site and as a physical publication.

Important Late Breaking Results and Posters Dates:

February 1, 2006: Submission Deadline (13:00 EST)
March 15, 2006: Notification of acceptance/rejection
March 29, 2006: Camera-ready paper deadline

Research Videos

With the category of Research Videos, PERVASIVE 2006 seeks research contributions, future visions, project descriptions, and concepts of pervasive computing technologies, systems and applications. The conference particularly values practical experience with design, deployment and use of pervasive systems and applications, and investigation of exciting and inspiring ideas and technologies. Contributions will be peer reviewed and accepted as short papers to be published in the adjunct proceedings of PERVASIVE 2006. The adjunct proceedings will be available electronically from the conference web site and as a physical publication.

Important Research Video Dates:

February 1, 2006: Submission Deadline (13:00 EST)
March 15, 2006: Notification of acceptance/rejection
March 29, 2006: Camera-ready paper deadline

Submissions to this category involve a two phase process, first to EDAS and following this to a video upload site detailed in the return email from the EDAS system.

Technical Papers

In September 2005 authors were invited to submit manuscripts of original unpublished research work in all areas. Relevant topics included (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Device, communication, and interaction technologies for pervasive computing.
  • Pervasive sensing, perception and inference for context technologies.
  • Software infrastructure, middleware and framworks for pervasive computing systems and environments.
  • Analysis, design, implementation and evaluation of pervasive systems and applications.
  • Deployment and management of pervasive systems and services and emerging industrial scenarios.
  • Pervasive computing interaction models, user interfaces and user experience.
  • Privacy, security and trust in pervasive computing.

Research Demonstrations

The category of Research Demonstrations offers a unique opportunity to showcase research prototypes, and to discuss them with an international audience of experts in pervasive computing. To promote this, PERVASIVE 2006 is seeking interesting and engaging demonstrations of pervasive computing technologies. Proposers are invited to submit Research Demonstrations under the general topics of the conference. Contributions will be peer reviewed and accepted as short papers to be published in the adjunct proceedings of PERVASIVE 2006. The adjunct proceedings will be available electronically from the conference web site and as a physical publication. The demonstrations will be introduced during a plenary session of the conference, and there will also be a reception dedicated to the presentation of posters and demonstrators.

Important Research Demonstration Dates:

February 1, 2006: Submission Deadline (13:00 EST)
March 15, 2006: Notification of acceptance/rejection
March 29, 2006: Camera-ready paper deadline

Doctoral Colloquium

The goal of the Pervasive 2006 Doctoral Colloquium is to provide useful guidance for the completion of the dissertation research and initiation of a research career. The Colloquium will provide an interactive forum for doctoral students who have progressed far enough in their research to have an Idea Paper and a structured proposal, but will not be defending their dissertation in the next 6 months. This 6-month stipulation is set in place because we would like for the students to have sufficient time to incorporate the advice and suggestions discussed in the colloquium.

Important Doctoral Colloquium Dates:

February 1st, 2006: Summision Deadline (13.00 EST)
March 15, 2006: Notification of acceptance/rejection
March 29, 2006: Camera-ready paper deadline

Conference Workshops 2006

Workshop Proposals

Workshops provide a forum for people to discuss areas of special interest within pervasive computing with like-minded researchers and practitioners. Workshops afford the participants the opportunity to examine an area with a selected focus in an open environment for the free exchange of views. To foster interaction, the workshops are limited to 30-50 invited participants. The day-long workshops will be held prior to the main conference on Sunday the 7th of May 2006.
